Pine64, makers of ARM-based, tinker-friendly devices, is making the PineTab 2, a sequel to its Linux-powered pill that largely bought swallowed up by the pandemic and its dire world manufacturing shortages.
The PineTab 2, as described in Pine64’s “December Replace,” is predicated across the RK3566, made by RockChip. Pine64 based mostly its Quartz64 single-board system on the system-on-a-chip (SoC), and has all however gushed about it throughout a number of weblog posts. It is “a dream-of-a-SoC,” writes Group Director Lukasz Erecinski, a “trendy mid-range quad-core Cortex-A55 processor that integrates a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. The PineTab 2 is an entire redesign, Erecinski claims. It has a steel chassis that “may be very sturdy whereas additionally being simple to disassemble for upgrades, upkeep, and restore.” The pill comes aside with snap-in tabs, and Pine64 will provide alternative components. The insides are modular, too, with the eMMC storage, digital camera, daughter-board, battery, and keyboard connector all detachable “in beneath 5 minutes.” The 10.1-inch IPS show, with “trendy and fairly skinny bezels,” also needs to be replaceable, albeit with extra work.
