DolphiniOS, a fork of the favored Dolphin emulator for Nintendo Wii and GameCube video games, has confirmed that it’s not coming to the Apple App Retailer though emulators at the moment are supported. In a publish on Friday, the developer behind the emulator says it’s as a result of Apple doesn’t permit DolphiniOS to make use of its underlying performance-boosting tech.

As defined by developer OatmealDome, DolphiniOS — together with different Wii and GameCube emulators — makes use of one thing referred to as Simply-in-Time (JIT). It is a compiler that “interprets” the GameCube and Wii’s PowerPC-based code right into a language different gadgets can perceive, making emulations run quite a bit smoother.
