Spotify wins as EU orders Apple to pay $2B and change App Store rules

The European Fee (EC) has sided with Spotify, fining Apple almost $2 billion for abusive App Retailer restrictions on builders that it discovered violated antitrust legal guidelines by degrading music streaming apps (aside from Apple Music) and spiking costs.

“Apple utilized restrictions on app builders stopping them from informing iOS customers about different and cheaper music subscription companies accessible outdoors of the app (‘anti-steering provisions’),” the EC discovered.
