Senate rushes to substantiate Trump FCC nominee with a purpose to hinder Biden admin

Senate Republicans are speeding to substantiate President Donald Trump’s nominee to the Federal Communications Fee with a purpose to create a 2-2 impasse for the Biden FCC.

In a 14-12 party-line vote as we speak, the Senate Commerce Committee permitted Trump’s nomination of Nathan Simington. If Simington is confirmed by the complete Senate, the FCC can be deadlocked at two Republicans and two Democrats after the upcoming departures of Chairman Ajit Pai and Michael O’Rielly. To get a 3-2 majority on the FCC, President-elect Joe Biden must nominate a Democrat after taking workplace and hope that the Senate confirms the nomination.

Senate Democrats stated as we speak that Simington shouldn’t be certified to be an FCC commissioner and that he misrepresented his work within the Trump administration throughout the committee’s affirmation course of.
