WD refused to reply our questions on its self-wiping SanDisk SSDs

Eleven days in the past, we despatched these inquiries to Western Digital’s head of PR and printed them publicly on The Verge:

  • Why are these drives nonetheless on sale?
  • Will you provide free knowledge restoration companies to affected prospects? When?
  • Are you proactively warning prospects and retailers who’ve already bought these drives that important knowledge loss is feasible?
  • If not, why not?
  • What, precisely, goes incorrect with these drives?
  • How did this occur?

What’s the fuss? For months, the corporate has been laughably silent about how its dear transportable SanDisk Excessive SSDs may lose all of your knowledge. It occurred to my colleague Vjeran Pavic twice. It occurred to Ars Technica. It occurred to PetaPixel.
