Neuralink faces federal probe over alleged animal abuse, “hack job” surgical procedures

Elon Musk’s brain-computer interface firm Neuralink is underneath investigation by the US Division of Agriculture for potential animal welfare violations amid allegations from present and former staff that the corporate abused animals in slapdash analysis resulting in “hack job” surgical procedures spurred by Musk’s rushed timelines.

That is all in accordance with an unique investigation revealed late Monday by Reuters, which reviewed inner Neuralink paperwork and data and interviewed over 20 present and former Neuralink staff.

In line with Reuters, the USDA Inspector Normal opened an investigation into Neuralink in latest months on the request of a federal prosecutor. The investigation focuses on potential violations of the Animal Welfare Act, which regulates the remedy of animals concerned in analysis and different actions and is enforced by the USDA. Reuters was unable to find out the total scope of the investigation. The USDA inspector normal declined to touch upon Reuter’s investigation. Regulatory filings present that Neuralink has handed earlier USDA inspections.
