Microsoft president sounds alarm on ‘ongoing’ SolarWinds hack, identifies 40 extra exact targets

Microsoft president Brad Smith warned that the wide-ranging hack of the SolarWinds’ Orion IT software program is “ongoing,” and that investigations reveal “an assault that’s exceptional for its scope, sophistication and influence.” The breach focused a number of US authorities businesses and is believed to have been carried out by Russian nation-state hackers.

Smith characterised the hack as “a second of reckoning” and specified by no unsure phrases simply how massive and the way harmful Microsoft believes the hack to be. It “represents an act of recklessness that created a critical technological vulnerability for the USA and the world,” Smith argues.
