Man robbed of 16 bitcoin hunts down suspects, sues their parents

Andrew Schober was nearly all-in on cryptocurrency. In 2018, 95 p.c of his internet wealth was invested within the digital tokens, which he hoped he might promote later to purchase a house and help his household.

However then catastrophe struck. Schober had downloaded an app known as “Electrum Atom” after clicking a hyperlink on Reddit, mistakenly considering it was a bitcoin pockets. As an alternative, it was malware that allowed hackers to steal 16.4552 bitcoin when he tried transferring a few of his tokens. On the time, they have been value almost $200,000. At present, they’d be value over $750,000.

Distressed, Schober didn’t eat or sleep for days. He vowed to trace down the culprits. After years of personal investigations costing greater than $10,000, Schober thinks he has discovered the thieves, and he’s suing their dad and mom to get his bitcoin again.
