Amazon is increasing its empire of warehouses at breakneck velocity, and it’s constructing most of them in neighborhoods of colour, in response to a brand new investigation by Shopper Experiences. That in the end burdens Black and brown communities with the truck site visitors, noise, and air pollution that warehouses convey.

Virtually 70 p.c of Amazon warehouses within the US are in neighborhoods with a better proportion of residents of colour than what’s typical in different neighborhoods in the remainder of the metro space, in response to Shopper Experiences. Fifty-seven p.c of neighborhoods close to Amazon warehouses have extra low-income residents, too.
