Ford will spend $3.5 billion to construct lithium iron phosphate battery plant

The US is getting one more new electrical automobile battery manufacturing facility. On Monday afternoon, Ford introduced that it’s going to spend $3.5 billion to construct a brand new plant in Marshall, Michigan. Considerably, this new website will make lithium iron phosphate (also referred to as LFP) cells, that are each cheaper and longer-lived than lithium-ion chemistries like nickel cobalt manganese (NCM), albeit at the price of some power density and chilly climate efficiency.
