Elon Musk has hit again at criticism that his firm’s Starlink satellites are hogging an excessive amount of room in area, and has as a substitute argued there might be room for “tens of billions” of spacecraft in orbits near Earth.

“Area is simply extraordinarily monumental, and satellites are very tiny,” Musk stated. “This isn’t some scenario the place we’re successfully blocking others in any means. We’ve not blocked anybody from doing something, nor can we anticipate to.”

His feedback, made in an interview with the Monetary Instances, got here in response to a declare from Josef Aschbacher, head of the European Area Company, that Musk was “making the principles” for the brand new industrial area economic system. Talking to the FT earlier this month, Aschbacher warned that Musk’s rush to launch hundreds of communications satellites would go away fewer radio frequencies and orbital slots out there for everybody else.
