Dell up to date its largest XPS clamshells on Thursday to incorporate the most recent cellular chips from Intel. Now, 12th-gen “Alder Lake” chips can be found within the 17- and 15.6-inch variations of the XPS.

Each the XPS 17 and 15 now have choices for an Intel Core i5-12500H or i7-12700H. The previous has 4 efficiency cores (P-cores), eight effectivity cores (E-cores), and a turbo clock velocity of as much as 4.5 GHz, whereas the latter has six P-Cores and eight E-cores and might hit as much as 4.7 GHz. To get Intel’s highest-end i9-12900HK, which has six P-cores and eight E-cores and might hit 5 GHz, you will need to get the smaller-screened XPS 15.

Based mostly on press supplies, Dell appears to be planning to place the i9-12900HK within the XPS 17, too, which might make sense, because it’s the most important, costlier XPS. We’ll replace this story if we hear again about when that mannequin might be obtainable.
