The EU’s second-highest courtroom has overturned a ruling that ordered Apple to pay a report €13 billion ($14.9 billion) in again taxes to the Irish authorities.
The ruling was initially made by the European Fee in 2016 and was seen as a major win for Margrethe Vestager, the EU’s antitrust chief. Vestager concluded {that a} “sweetheart deal” from the Irish authorities meant the iPhone-maker paid an efficient tax charge of lower than 1 %, a uniquely preferential deal that counted as “unlawful state assist.”
